Growing up with Italian migrant parents, living in Moonee Ponds, photos taken early 1980s, in the kitchen.

After Art School in 1984, I moved to Sydney and lived in a warehouse in Haymarket. I had a live-in studio space with other artists. There I started to paint, mostly self-portraits, initially on paper but then on aluminium printing plates, which I could easily access in the off-set printing business I worked for at the time. So I started painting on the aluminium.

Then I started to scratch and emboss the surface.
